Unpopular opinion: Offshore wind jobs are getting too rushed for safety
I mean, maybe it's just me, but I've seen a huge jump in offshore wind farm projects around here. Last month, I was on a job where we had to inspect turbine bases, and the schedule was so tight we skipped some safety checks. Idk, it feels like everyone wants these projects done fast, so they're cutting corners. This makes diving way more stressful, and I've heard stories of near misses from other divers too. Like, we used to have more time for proper gear checks, but now it's all about speed. Maybe it's good for the environment, but if we're not safe, what's the point? Just something I've been thinking about lately.

Have you heard about what happened to my friend last week? He was out on a wind farm boat, and they were so behind that bosses said to skip the full equipment check. During his dive, a hose connection started leaking because it wasn't inspected right, and he had to signal for help fast. He told me later his heart was pounding, thinking this could be it. That rush you mentioned is real, and it's putting people in danger every day. It just shows how pushing speed can make simple jobs turn scary real quick.

But skipping checks saves time and usually nothing goes wrong, so why worry?

Wasn't I just like you until @jessicap48's story about her friend's close call?
