Remember when we had to hand signal everything on a dive?

I mean, maybe 10 years back on a bridge job in Tampa, we were all using the old hand signals for basic stuff like 'okay' or 'up'. Now my crew uses those little waterproof tablets with text chat. The change came after a mix-up on a salvage job where a signal got missed in bad viz. It just feels different, you know? Does anyone else still teach the old signals to new divers, or is it all tech now?
