I finally realized I was purging my tanks wrong for 8 years

Was on a job in the Gulf last month and my supervisor just watched me do my pre-dive check. He pointed out I was cracking the valve too fast and blowing off way more gas than needed, been wasting air this whole time. Anyone else have a simple habit they never got corrected on until someone called them out?

For real, next you'll tell me I've been putting my wetsuit on backwards for a decade. That's what happens when nobody wants to tell the senior guy he's doing it wrong. At least now you can flex on the newbies with your fresh knowledge.
