Tried to save time with a drywall lift last Tuesday... big mistake.

I was hanging 12-foot sheets in a new strip mall over by the old mill district, figured I'd rent a fancy auto-lift instead of calling a helper. The thing tilted sideways halfway up and dumped a whole sheet right onto a brand new HVAC unit, dented it to hell. Boss wasn't thrilled, so what's your go-to when a tool just doesn't cooperate?

Heard a buddy swear by those auto-lifts for years until one dropped a sheet on his truck, so now I just stick with the manual ones and a good helper. Maybe it's just me but I feel like the extra set of hands saves more time than the fancy gadget anyway.

FEEL your pain man, those fancy lifts can turn on you in a heartbeat.

@west.henry nailed it, those lifts can flip the script real quick. In my experience, the manual ones and a solid helper are way more dependable, even if it takes a bit longer. Less chance of a sheet going rogue on you.
