Ledger vs old school paper takeoffs, the paper won for me

I spent last week doing a takeoff for a 14k sq ft retail fitout in Austin and tried running it all through a new digital ledger app my GC pushed on me. The app was slick for tracking RFIs and change orders but I kept losing my place flipping between screens and the battery died mid afternoon. I pulled out my old grid paper and highlighters like I used to and finished the whole square footage breakdown in about two hours that night. The numbers came out cleaner too, no accidental double clicks or layers hiding stuff. Dont get me wrong, I still use the app for sending stuff to the office, but the actual measuring and counting stays on paper for me now. Anyone else find that the fancy software just gets in the way once you are deep in a big takeoff?

Ha, my phone died mid-takeoff once and I nearly cried into my highlighter. Paper never runs out of battery.
