Hit 200 linear feet of conduit in one shift and it broke my brain a little

I've been doing commercial electrical work for about 8 years now, and last Friday I somehow ran 200 feet of 3/4 EMT in a single 10 hour shift. That's about double my normal pace, and honestly I don't even know how it happened. It was a straight shot in an unfinished warehouse with no obstructions, but still. The foreman checked my work and said it was all straight too, no hangers loose. It made me wonder if I've been moving too slow this whole time or if I just got lucky. Has anyone else hit a weird milestone like that and felt like you were either a genius or a slacker the rest of the week?

Honestly this reminds me of how weird performance works in general. Like sometimes you'll be making drinks on a slow Tuesday and suddenly you're knocking out three cocktails a minute without even thinking, but other days you can't even pour a beer without spilling. The human brain just clicks into gear on random days for no clear reason. Last month I cleaned my whole apartment in 45 minutes flat which normally takes me two hours and I still don't know what was different. I think those days are just proof that we're capable of way more than usual but most of the time something holds us back, whether it's tiredness or distraction or just bad luck.

Oh totally, this hits hard. I remember one time I was baking cookies and literally everything went perfect - butter at exactly the right temp, the dough didn't stick, they came out golden and chewy. I was on autopilot the whole time and it felt like magic. But then the next weekend I tried the exact same recipe and burned two batches, forgot the vanilla, and ended up with flat discs. It's like my brain just decides when it wants to cooperate and there's no warning. Those good days feel amazing though, like you unlocked a secret level or something.

Laughing at the baking example because I had the exact opposite happen. One shift I was so in the zone that my buddies started calling me "The Machine" and I was feeling like a total rockstar. Then the very next day I walked straight into a brand new box of fittings I'd left on the floor and sent a dozen connectors flying across the warehouse. Spent ten minutes crawling around on my hands and knees picking them up while my foreman just shook his head at me. Really brought me back down to earth, you know?
