A city inspector in Denver told me my firestop caulk was wrong for the assembly

He pointed at the spec sheet and said 'That's for a 2 hour wall, you're on a 4 hour chase.' I switched to the right product and passed the next day. How do you guys keep track of all the different fire ratings on big jobs?

That part about the spec sheet for a 2 hour wall versus the 4 hour chase is so real. It reminds me of how everything seems to have its own specific rule now, like the different chargers for every phone brand. You need the exact right thing or it just doesn't work.

Did you have to check the spec sheets for every single penetration, or was there a master schedule posted somewhere on site? Keeping track of that stuff sounds like a full time job by itself.

Yeah, and then they change the rules halfway through the project.
