Why does nobody warn you about 90s variant cover collecting

I spent $400 last year chasing every foil and hologram cover from 1993 thinking they'd hold value. Now they're all sitting in a long box worth maybe $40 total. Has anyone actually made money off these things?

Yeah that $400 thing hurts to read. Same thing happened to me with the X-Force #1 foil set. Those 90s variants are a trap - printed way too many.

Read an article saying those 90s variants had print runs bigger than the regular issues in some cases. Craig.sage you're right, they were a trap for sure.
