Which matters more for a collector? Getting the first appearance or the best story arc?
I had to choose between buying a near-mint copy of Batman #121 (first Mr. Freeze) for $180 or a full run of the Knightfall saga for $150 at my local shop last month. I went with the Knightfall run because I figured more reading value for the money, but now I keep thinking about that first appearance. The Mr. Freeze issue is only going up in value and I feel like I missed a chance. But then again, I've already read the Knightfall stuff three times and loved it. For you guys, do you prioritize key issues for investment or do you go for longer story arcs that you can actually enjoy? What's your rule on this kind of choice?

The same thing happens with everything really. People always chase what's rare instead of what's actually good. That Mr. Freeze issue is cool but you'd stare at it in a sleeve while the Knightfall run keeps paying off.

Five long boxes of Wizard magazines in my attic agree with you.

Are you ever gonna actually read those again or just let them collect dust?
