Went to a tiny con in a hotel basement and it was the best comic experience I've had in years

Some random vendor had a long box full of beat-up 90s X-Men issues for a dollar each and this older guy next to me spent 20 minutes explaining the whole Age of Apocalypse timeline from memory, has anyone else found that small shows with zero celebrities end up being way more fun than the big ones?
