Warning: Spent $60 on a 'collector's edition' comic that was a reprint scam

I saw a booth at a local con last month selling a 'first print' of an old Batman issue for $60. The guy said it was a steal because it was from 1989. I bought it, got home, and the paper quality felt way off. Looked it up online and found out it was a cheap reprint from 2015. Has anyone else gotten burned by fake vintage comics at shows?

Man, that's rough... I feel your pain. I once spent $40 on what I thought was a first print of a random 90s X-Men issue, only to find out later it was a bootleg that smelled like glue and regret. The seller had this whole story about finding it in a old comic shop's back room... guess he found it in a copy machine instead. At least you got a good story out of it, right? I still have mine shoved in a box somewhere, probably worth less than the gas I used to drive to that con.

Oh man, I read somewhere that some bootleggers actually used to photocopy comics in libraries back then and sell them at cons. Guess yours got the "library special" treatment.
