The week I realized Image comics fans aren't all snobs
Tbh I used to think people who only read Image comics were just hipsters trying to look cool. But last Tuesday I wandered into Graham Crackers Comics in Chicago and this employee spent 20 minutes explaining how Saga's writing actually makes you care about characters. Then he handed me a beat-up copy of The Wicked + The Divine for free. I read the whole thing that night and totally get it now. Has anyone else had a comic shop employee totally shift your perspective on a whole publisher?

Funny enough a Marvel diehard once made me give Invincible a shot.

made me give Invincible a shot" is pretty funny actually... because I'd argue Invincible is what happens when you take Marvel's formula and strip out all the stuff that actually makes it fun. Marvel has this vibrant, colorful energy even when things get dark, but Invincible just keeps hitting you with the same depressing beats over and over until you're numb. Robert Kirkman basically wrote a deconstruction of superhero comics that forgets why people like superheroes in the first place. Like sure, the violence is shocking the first time, but after a while it just feels like he's trying too hard to be edgy. I'd rather read a Spider-Man issue where Peter actually cracks a joke than sit through another episode of Mark getting beaten into a bloody pulp.
