That one guy at the comic shop who swore old issues were better written

I ran into this guy at Cosmic Comics in Denver last Saturday who wouldn't stop ranting that everything from the 80s was peak storytelling and modern comics are trash. He literally held up a beat up copy of Uncanny X-Men #210 and said 'this is real drama, not like those decompressed trades on the shelf.' I told him I actually prefer the slower character building in current runs like Tom King's stuff, and he just laughed and walked away mid sentence. Has anyone else dealt with a fan who thinks their era is the only valid one?

Used to think people were overreacting about that kind of thing, but yeah, this totally changed my mind.
