Talked to a kid at the LCS who saw my old X-Men #1 as 'vintage'

I was at my local shop last weekend flipping through some bins when a kid maybe 14 or 15 saw me holding my old 1991 X-Men #1. He asked if that was a vintage book and I almost laughed but then realized to him it kinda is. I bought that issue off the spinner rack for $1.50 back when I was in middle school and now it's older than this kid's parents. We got to talking about how he only reads collected editions on his tablet and never buys single issues. That conversation hit different because I always figured everybody loved the smell and feel of a fresh Wednesday release. But he said he just wants the story without having to store 50 floppy boxes. Made me wonder if the whole single issue experience is fading for good. Has anyone else had a moment where a younger collector made you feel ancient?

Yeah that whole shift from physical to digital keeps popping up everywhere now, not just comics.

Talked to a kid at the LCS who saw my old X-Men #1 as 'vintage'" - dude that is a gut punch lol. But honestly, I think youre overthinking it a bit. Yeah, the experience is changing but it's not like single issues are gonna vanish overnight. Plenty of us still grab floppies every Wednesday even if theres a whole generation that prefers tablets. The kid just has a different way of reading, not like hes killing the hobby or anything.

Just hand the kid the comic and let them flip through it. They usually get it after they feel the paper and smell the old ink.
