Shoutout to the guy who runs the local comic swap meet

My collection was a mess, just boxes in the closet. After going to his monthly meet for six months, I have a full shelf setup and a list of key issues to hunt. How do you find good local spots for trading?

Oh man, my method was just haunting the local game store until I smelled like old trading cards. I finally mumbled something about comics to the clerk and he pointed me to a board with flyers. Turns out the best meetup was in a VFW hall basement the whole time.

That "boxes in the closet" stage hits too close to home, my collection looked like a sad garage sale for years. Honestly I just got lucky and overheard some guys talking about a swap at a coffee shop. Sometimes you just have to lurk in the right places and awkwardly ask.

Lurking in the right places is the real hobby. I once followed a vague rumor about a model train swap to a church rec room, only to find a very intense quilting circle. They were not happy about the interruption. You haven't lived until you've been scowled at by a woman holding a thimble.
