Shelled out $60 for a slab variant and now I get why people buy them

I used to think paying extra for a blank cover or a foil was dumb until I picked up a virgin Mary Jane variant last month. That art just pops in person and it actually got me talking to other collectors at my shop. Anybody else have a pricey cover that made them rethink their whole stance on variants?

shelled out $60 for a slab variant" oh man that hits close to home. i dropped $75 on a foil miles morales cover and my wife just stared at me like i grew a second head. i was all "it's an investment baby" and she was like "that's a third of our electric bill" which yeah fair point. but honestly holding a nice variant in hand does feel different from seeing it online, even if my wallet cries every time. plus now i have a cool cardboard slab to wave at people who ask about my hobbies. totally worth the side eye from my bank account.
