Serious question, my neighbor said comic fans are too quiet about the art

I was chatting with my neighbor, a painter, and she said, 'You all talk about the writer and the story, but I never hear you get loud about the penciler or inker.' It hit different because I realized I always just say 'cool art' without naming the artist. How do you make a point to talk about the art team when you recommend a book?

Notice how we do this with movies too, always naming the director but forgetting the cinematographer. Makes you realize how we default to crediting the "author" in any medium. I try to name the artist first now when I talk about a comic, just to break the habit.

You're right that we default to an author, but with comics that often is the writer. They build the story's foundation, so crediting them first still makes sense to me. The artist brings it to life, but the core idea usually starts with the writer.
