Remember when you had to go to three different shops just to find a single back issue?

Wait, you could actually FIND back issues? My town's comic shop never had anything past last month. It was just a wall of the newest stuff and a dusty box of baseball cards. I gave up and just started reading everything online.

Yeah, that was the whole thing. Even if a shop had back issues, it was a total gamble. You'd dig through long boxes for an hour just to find a random issue #7 when you needed #4 to understand the story. The hunt was part of the fun, I guess, but it could get really frustrating. Online archives just made sense because you could actually read a full run start to finish.

Dig through the store's discount bins near the register, that's where the real gold hides. I found a full run of Nextwave in a $0.50 bin once because someone just dumped them there. Ask the shop owner if they have a pull list for customer wants, most places will hold back issues for you if you're looking for something specific. Also check the dates on the price stickers, some shops will drop prices after 90 days and you can grab a bunch for cheap if you come back at the right time.
