I stopped trying to read every single comic event and my wallet is happier
For years, I felt like I had to buy every tie-in for big crossovers like 'King in Black' or 'Dark Crisis' to get the full story. I was spending over $60 a month just on event books. Last year, I tried something new: I only bought the main miniseries and waited for the trade paperback for anything else. It saved me a ton of cash and I didn't miss much at all. The main story usually gives you the core plot, and the tie-ins are just extra fluff. Now I only grab a side book if the art or creative team really grabs me. How do you all handle big comic events without going broke?

Totally agree with your main point, but gotta say some tie-ins are actually key (like the Zdarsky Daredevil stuff during Devil's Reign). Feels like you gotta check online to see which ones matter.

Wait, you actually had to look up which Devil's Reign tie-ins mattered? That's wild to me. @clark.robin, I just bought them all because I was already pulling the main book. It feels like a trap they set for us. Now I'm worried I missed something key in that last X-Men event because I skipped the Marauders issues.

Honestly that's the whole problem right there. They make you feel like you have to buy everything or you'll miss out. Tbh I spent way too much time reading forums just to figure out what to skip. It shouldn't be a part time job just to follow a story.
