I just hit 500 single issues in my X-Men collection

I was sorting my long boxes in the garage and the count really hit me. It started with a beat up copy of Uncanny X-Men #171 I found at a shop in Cleveland when I was 12. Now it's a full wall of shelves and I'm realizing how much space and money this hobby actually takes up. Does anyone else get a little shocked when they see their collection's total size?

My garage has a whole corner that looks like a comic shop storage room, and I'm only at about 300 books. I can't imagine the floor space for 500. At this point, I think my collection owns me, not the other way around.

I hit 400 books and had to switch to short boxes stacked two high. It freed up a ton of space.

Oh man, I feel this! I hit that wall around 350 books. My closet was a disaster zone. I finally caved and got those plastic drawer units, the wide shallow ones. I sort runs by publisher now, Marvel in one drawer, DC in another. It was a game changer for actually finding a specific issue.
