Hit 500 issues in my collection and it changed how I see the hobby

I passed 500 comics last week after digging through a longbox at a flea market. That number made me realize I was more focused on quantity than actually reading the stories. Has anyone else hit a milestone that made you rethink your buying habits?

Hell yeah, congrats on 500! That's a solid milestone but I totally get what you're saying about the focus shift. So when you hit that number and realized it changed how you see the hobby, did it make you actually go back and read the stuff you already own? Or did it make you start hunting for fewer but better books instead?

Had 300 and realized I owned three copies of the same Spider-Man issue from different dollar bins. Now I actually flip through what I buy before handing over cash.

That's a great cautionary tale and honestly one I think a lot of us can relate to. I hit two hundred books a few years back and found a duplicate of an X-Men issue I had totally forgotten about sitting in a longbox. It really wakes you up to the fact that you need to slow down and actually pay attention, not just grab everything that catches your eye.
