Hearing fans laugh off back pain from comic boxes concerns me

I often see fellow collectors joking about the aches from moving heavy longboxes. Ignoring this can lead to serious injuries that stop you from enjoying the hobby. Do you have any tips for safer handling or storage to prevent strain?

Laughing it off is how I learned that the hard way.

Is it really that serious? Laughing things off can be a fine way to handle stuff. Calling it the hard way feels like an exaggeration.

Sometimes laughing just covers a crack instead of fixing it (and then the whole wall comes down later). It's a short-term patch that can make long-term problems worse.
