Friend swore I needed to bag my comics in Mylar or they'd decay

Buddy of mine who collects golden age stuff kept telling me poly bags were garbage and I was ruining my 90s X-Men run. I switched a few issues over to Mylar and honestly can't tell a difference in the books after six months. Anyone else find Mylar is overkill for modern comics or am I just missing something?

I read somewhere that the main issue is acid migration from cheaper bags over decades, not six months... you probably won't see damage for like 20 years.

yeah totally with you on this. i switched some of my silver age stuff to mylar a while back and honestly my poly bagged books from the 90s look exactly the same so far. maybe it's just me but i feel like people overthink this stuff way too much
