A vendor at Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle explained why my $12 Silver Surfer was actually worthless
Two years ago at Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, I brought a stack of comics to a vendor booth hoping to sell a Silver Surfer issue I got at a garage sale for $12. The vendor, an older guy named Ray, flipped through it for maybe 10 seconds and handed it back. He pointed to the cover and explained that the cover price of 12 cents does not mean it is a first print, and that mine was a second print because of the small number in the corner. He then pulled out his own copy of the same issue and pointed out three differences, all in under a minute. I had owned that comic for 8 years and never noticed any of it. Ray did not even try to buy it from me, he just wanted me to know what I actually had. Has anyone else had a vendor take time to teach them something instead of just making an offer?
