Tried a $15 French press after years of using my $400 espresso machine

The espresso machine is great for milk drinks but for straight black coffee the French press blows it away. I spent 3 years thinking I needed expensive gear to get good coffee, turns out a press and fresh ground beans is all you really need. Anyone else find a cheap setup that worked better than their pricey one?

You ever try the Aeropress? It's like $30 and honestly makes some of the cleanest coffee I've ever had. I was in the same boat with a fancy machine and realized I was overcomplicating it for no reason. The press lets the actual bean flavor shine through way better than those expensive setups. Plus it's dead simple to clean and takes like 2 minutes total.
