The worst batch of Ethiopian beans I ever had happened last March
I roasted a 5 pound bag from a roaster I trusted for 2 years and every single cup tasted like burnt rubber and ash, and the worst part was I could not even blame my grinder because I cleaned it twice that week, so has anyone else hit a dud batch from a usually solid source?

Hold up a second... I actually had a totally different experience with Ethiopian beans around that same time. Ran into a natural process Yirgacheffe last March that blew my mind with blueberry notes and this super clean finish. Might be a roast level thing honestly, because I find Ethiopian beans get that burnt rubber taste real fast if you push them even a few seconds past first crack. Could also be that your usual roaster switched suppliers or changed their profile without saying anything... happens more than people think. I've had a normally solid roaster suddenly send me a batch that was oily and dark when they usually did light roasts, and it completely changed the flavor. Maybe chat with them about what batch number you got, they might send you a replacement if enough people complained.
