The great debate: is it worth spending extra on single-origin beans?

I keep seeing people argue that single-origin beans are just a marketing gimmick, but I've found the flavor differences are huge, like Ethiopian Yirgacheffe tasting floral versus a standard blend. On the other hand, blends are more consistent for espresso. Which side are you on and why?

Yeah "flavor differences are huge" is spot on. I accidentally bought a bag of single origin Ethiopian once thinking it was just normal coffee and it tasted like blueberries in my mug. Totally threw off my morning routine cause I kept sniffing my cup instead of drinking it.

Trying single-origin as a pour-over was my coffee epiphany. Dialing in that Ethiopian washed process took a few tries but the bright lemon notes were worth every extra minute.
