Rant: I hit 100 cups on my cheap drip machine and it's still making great coffee

Everyone in my local group says you need a fancy pour-over setup or a $200 brewer for good flavor. My basic machine from Target hit 100 brews this morning. I've used the same medium roast beans from a local roaster in Phoenix for all of them, grinding fresh. The coffee tastes just as good as it did on day one, maybe better because I've dialed in the water ratio. Has anyone else found that expensive gear isn't always the answer?

My old Mr. Coffee lasted six years. The best coffee I ever had came from that thing. Sometimes simple just works.

Right? My grandma's drip machine made coffee for like a decade. Why mess with something that just gets the job done?

Honestly a lot of it comes down to the water you use. Hard water can wreck any machine fast, cheap or not. If your local water is decent, a basic brewer will last forever. The fancy gear often just adds more things that can break or need cleaning.
