PSA: I just switched from a blade grinder to a burr grinder and it's a whole new world
For years I used a $30 blade grinder from a big box store, thinking it was fine. My coffee was always a bit bitter or weak, and I could never get it right. Last month, I finally bought a basic Baratza Encore burr grinder after reading about it online. The difference is insane. The grounds are all the same size now, not a mix of dust and big chunks. My morning pour-over tastes cleaner and sweeter, like I can actually taste the fruit notes my local roaster talks about. I wasted so much good coffee with that old grinder. Has anyone else made this switch and been totally shocked by how much better their daily cup is?

Remember thinking my old grinder was fine until I tried a friend's.

Doubling down on that apology to every bean thing. I feel bad for every mediocre cup I drank thinking that was just how coffee was supposed to taste.

I used my old blade grinder for a solid eight years, convinced I was just bad at making coffee. Turns out I was just using a glorified spice mill (which explains the "smoky" notes I guess). The upgrade felt less like a new gadget and more like an apology to every bean I ever wasted.
