My French press exploded on me at 6am yesterday in my apartment kitchen

I was groggy and pushed the plunger too fast and hot coffee and grounds went EVERYWHERE on the counter and floor. Has anyone else had a ceramic press shatter from thermal shock or was I just being too aggressive with it?

I swear I see it in comment sections, on Twitter, even in group chats with friends. Everyone's on edge and ready to fight instead of just having a chill conversation. Maybe that's why stuff escalates so fast, because we're all so used to people coming at us that we go into defense mode from the jump. It's exhausting honestly.
