I used to nuke my coffee every morning for 5 years

Set aside 10 minutes each morning now for a pour-over. Used to think that was way too much time for coffee. Now I can't go back.

Oh man, my first attempt at pour-over was a disaster. I used a paper filter that collapsed and dumped grounds all over my counter at 6am. That was six months ago and I still find coffee bits in random places. Took me about a dozen tries before I got a cup that didn't taste like dirty sock water. Now I'm that guy who packs a gooseneck kettle when I visit my parents. The 10 minute morning ritual is basically my therapy session at this point.

Bet you never thought about it, but using a Chemex filter instead of those flimsy V60 ones makes it way harder to mess up. They're thicker and stand up on their own, so you won't wind up with coffee confetti in your cereal bowls six months later.

Question whether it's really that serious, @the_ryan. Took you a dozen tries to get a decent cup of coffee? Or maybe start with a cheap electric kettle and pre-wetting the filter so it sticks to the dripper. Does the morning ritual really cure all your problems or just the coffee ones?
