Had to choose between a $200 grinder upgrade or saving for a trip to a famous roaster in Portland. Went with the grinder and my morning cup is SO much better now. Anyone else faced a similar coffee gear vs. experience trade-off?

That "famous roaster" trip would have been a memory, not just a better cup.

Totally get what you mean, @west.henry. I saved up for a coffee tour in Guatemala a few years back. Sure, the coffee was amazing, but the real thing I remember is the farmer showing me his trees and his family. That story is part of every cup I make now. It just hits different when you know where it came from.
