French press vs pour over, I finally switched after 4 frustrating weeks

I kept seeing everyone brag about pour over and figured I was missing something. Spent 4 weeks with a gooseneck kettle and a V60, got nothing but weak cups with a weird sour bite. Last Tuesday I dusted off my old French press, used the same beans and same grind, and the difference was night and day. The body was fuller and the flavor actually came through without all that fuss. Anyone else feel like pour over is just a fancy way to make mediocre coffee?
