Went from copy-paste hell to writing my own functions in 5 weeks

I used to Google the same basic query every single time and just paste whatever Stack Overflow gave me. This week I refactored my whole beginner project into 3 functions and it actually ran on the first try. Did anyone else hit that weird moment where things start making sense or am I just lucky?
