Surprised by how many coding jobs don't require a degree

I was looking at job listings on Indeed last week for entry level web developer positions. Out of 40 listings I checked, about 25 of them didn't list a college degree as a requirement. They just wanted a portfolio or some projects to show. I always figured you needed at least a two year degree to get in the door, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Has anyone else noticed this shift in their job search?

Lol those 15 must have been filtering for degree vs requirement wrong.

Totally agree lol I had a buddy who got filtered out of a job he was perfect for because his degree was "Computer Engineering" and they asked for "Computer Science". He applied anyway and got a call back a week later saying the system auto-rejected him at first. The hiring manager literally laughed when she heard why.

Automatic filters never catch the whole picture.
