My friend in Austin said to start with Python, not C++
He told me last month that Python's easier to read and you see results faster. I tried C++ first anyway and got stuck on pointers for like two weeks. Switched to Python and built a simple number guesser in an afternoon. Anyone else get stubborn advice that turned out to be right?

Why do we always think the hard way is better?

My stubborn streak cost me a solid month trying to make C++ work when I was in college. I had this weird idea that starting with the "hard" language would make me a real programmer faster. All it did was make me hate my computer for a while. Your friend in Austin gave you the golden ticket. Starting with Python lets you actually make things, which is the whole point. The feeling of building that number guesser beats banging your head on pointers any day.

Listen to your friend. He saved you a ton of pointless pain. Getting stuff done is what keeps you going.
