Appreciation post: I spent $40 on a Python course and it saved me weeks of confusion
I was stuck trying to learn from free videos that jumped around too much. The course had one project about building a simple weather app that finally made functions click for me. What's the one thing you bought that actually helped you learn?

Honestly I've had the opposite experience! The best learning for me came from free documentation and just trying to build my own terrible projects. Paid courses sometimes make things feel too neat and skip the messy problem solving that really teaches you.

Totally get where @willow_morgan is coming from. My first real "aha" moment came from wrestling with a broken API for two days using free docs. That frustration taught me more about error handling than any polished video ever did. You just can't buy that kind of deep, messy understanding.

Remember when @willow_morgan tried to fix that old coffee maker?

Willow's point about messy problem solving is real, but that chaos is exactly why some people quit. A good paid course gives you a clear path through the basics so you don't drown in the mess right at the start. It builds the confidence you need to later tackle those terrible projects on your own. Skipping that solid foundation just leaves you stuck and frustrated.
