The $80 digital edge finder that paid for itself in one shift

I got tired of the old wiggle method eating up setup time, so I bought a digital edge finder off Amazon for 80 bucks. First job using it, I shaved about 15 minutes off each part setup on a 12 part run, that's 3 hours saved right there. The display is dead simple, no math in my head, just zero it and go. Anyone else running one of these or still stuck with the mechanical style?

Man, I wish I could say I was smart enough to grab one of those, but I’m still out here with the old mechanical style and a prayer. Last week I spent ten minutes wiggling the edge finder, then realized I forgot to zero my DRO anyway, so I just eyeballed it and made a part that was 30 thou off. The scrap bin ate that one for lunch. I keep telling myself the digital one is a “treat yo self” purchase, but my brain still thinks spending 80 bucks is a splurge when I’ll just lose the battery cover in a week anyway. Honestly, your math on the time saved is making me feel dumb for not buying one sooner. Maybe I’ll finally cave next time I run a job with more than three setups.
