Spent 2 years peck drilling every deep hole before a old timer showed me a G73 cycle

He just walked over and said 'try pecking with a G73 instead of G83' and my cycle time dropped by 40% in one run, anyone else waste years on the wrong cycle code?

Used to swear by G83 for everything, thought pecking was the only way to get chips out of deep holes... then a guy showed me G73 one afternoon and I felt like an idiot. The retract distance is way smaller, so you're not wasting all that time pulling up to the top every time. Cut my cycle time on a 2 inch deep hole almost in half, no joke. Would have saved me a ton of headaches if I'd learned it sooner. Now I only use G83 for nasty stringy materials where chips need to clear out.

Haha, that's the kind of trade secret that makes you wonder what else you've been doing the hard way for years. Nothing like a little afternoon humility to save half your cycle time.
