Shoutout to the old guy at the trade show in Cleveland who showed me a trick for holding thin wall tubing. Just ran a 500 piece order without a single scrap.

That's the kind of shop floor magic you can't learn from a manual. My uncle used to keep a notebook full of those little tricks, like using a specific brand of masking tape as a temporary spacer. Saving all that material on a big run must feel amazing. Those old timers have forgotten more useful stuff than most of us will ever know.

Yeah, that notebook idea is gold. It's like a living history of all the small fixes that keep a shop running smooth. We lose so much of that knowledge when people retire without passing it on.
