Rant: The clean floors now remind me of the grease stains we wore like badges.
We used to read the chips and the sound, now it's all digital readouts and spotless bays.

Wait, spotless bays? That's a real shop? Every place I've been still has at least one corner that looks like an oil spill crime scene.

But do you miss the mess, or do you miss what the mess meant? I get it, that grease showed you were working hard with your hands. All that analog stuff needed a real feel. But now the digital stuff just takes the guesswork out of the simple checks. It frees up time and focus for the actually tough problems that still need that old school skill. The clean floor just means less time cleaning and more time fixing.
