Kid fresh out of trade school told me my speeds and feeds were outdated last Tuesday
He pulled up a calc app on his phone and showed me I could bump the feed 30% on that 6061 aluminum part without chipping the tool, and I'll be damned if he wasnt right after I ran it. Has anyone else had a younger operator call them out on old habits that actually worked?

Take his advice and run with it. Old habits die hard but that 30% feed bump saved me time and tooling.

I mean it's a thirty percent bump, not exactly reinventing the wheel here. New guys get excited and think they discovered fire, but that's a pretty basic optimization if you ask me.

You know my buddy Dave? Kid out of college showed him a better way to set up his tool paths and he was pissed for a week. But after he tried it his cycle time dropped like crazy. Sometimes the new guys just see stuff we missed for years.
