Hot take: spindle speed charts are lying to you past 12k rpm
I was reading a Haas maintenance bulletin last week and it said most 10k spindle drives lose about 15% of their real torque by 8k rpm, not at the top end. I always thought the curve was flat until redline, but it drops way sooner than I expected. I checked our 2019 VF-2 at the shop in Dayton and sure enough, we've been taking finishing passes too shallow this whole time. Anyone else run test cuts to map their actual torque curve, or do you trust the sticker on the machine?

That bulletin sounds like typical manufacturer CYA. They cover their bases so when someone pushes a 10k spindle at 9,800 with a heavy cut, they can point at the chart. Real world, most jobs never see max torque anyway. We run a 2018 VF-3 and honestly, the difference between 6k and 9k on our finishing passes is within normal tool wear noise. Maybe you're overthinking it.
