Hot take: crash bars on the second shift, safety or a crutch?
Last Tuesday I was running a Haas VF2 in Kenosha and watched a guy scrap a $600 fixture because he trusted his crash bar instead of the dry run. He had the feed at 200% and the bar never tripped. Our lead saw it and said we should just slow down and check offsets, which set off a whole argument on the floor. Half the guys say the bar saved their butt at least once, the other half say it makes you lazy and you stop watching the load meter. So what's the call here, do you run with the bar maxed out or keep it turned down and watch the numbers yourself?
