Finally ditched manual edge finders for a $30 electronic probe

I ran manual edge finders for like 8 years at shops around Detroit, always tapping the side and slowly sneaking up on zero. Last month I grabbed a cheap electronic edge probe from a tool sale and man, what a difference. It just lights up and beeps when it touches, no more guessing if I bumped it too hard or misread the wobble. I did have to reprogram my whole workflow though, since the probe needs a slower feed and a separate offset callout before touching off. Took me about 5 jobs to trust it completely, but now I'm saving maybe 4 minutes per setup and my first part scrap rate dropped to almost nothing. Has anyone else switched and found the cheap probes drift out of calibration faster than the fancy ones?

Heard a guy say the cheap ones drift after a few weeks, but honestly mine's been fine so far.
