The $2,400 heat pump install that doubled my electric bill

I got a dual zone mini split put in last March from a local outfit in Tacoma, thought it would cut costs since my old baseboard heaters were brutal. Instead my bill jumped from $180 to $390 a month because the unit kept short cycling, the installer never checked the line set length. It took three visits and a $150 diagnostic fee before they found the sensor was bad, now I'm stuck with a warranty fight. Anyone else get burned by an efficiency upgrade that backfired, or did I just pick the wrong contractor?
