Someone at a town hall in Boulder said my 'zero waste' kit was just greenwashing because it's all new plastic stuff.
I swapped my fancy travel set for a thrifted metal fork and a washed-out jar, which honestly works better and feels way more legit, anyone else get called out and make a real switch?

That "feels way more legit" part is the whole point. You stopped performing and started actually doing the thing.

Oh man, that's such a good point! It's easy to buy the shiny new "eco" product and feel like you've done your part. But using what already exists, even if it's a bit janky, cuts out so much waste before you even start. That person at the town hall did you a favor, even if it felt harsh at the time. Your thrifted kit is the real deal because it actually keeps stuff out of the landfill right now.

Grab some vinegar and baking soda for cleaning that thrifted kit, works a treat on old plastic and metal... way cheaper than fancy eco cleaners too.
