Simple meter check exposed my hidden energy waste
I started reading my home energy meter every week to see my usage. Found a big spike that came from an old fridge running nonstop. Swapped it out for a more efficient one and cut my power use by a lot. Checking your meter regularly can show you where you're wasting energy without knowing.

You know, I did the same thing last year. What helped me was checking the meter at the same time every day for a week, then comparing weekdays to weekends. It showed me that our water heater was kicking on way too often. A steady draw that never changes, like you found with your fridge, is always a red flag. It's surprising what you can find once you start looking at the actual numbers.
