Overheard a guy at the hardware store say his AC unit uses 40% less power since he washed the coils
Just a simple garden hose spray on the outside condenser coils every spring. Anyone else tried this or got another free efficiency hack like that?

Wash your fridge coils too while you're at it, that's another one people forget about all the time. Honestly that 40 percent number might be a bit high but it's not crazy, a dirty coil makes the whole system work way harder than it needs to. It's like how you wouldn't run your car with a clogged air filter and expect good gas mileage.
