Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say 'solar panels are just a tax scam' and I nearly choked on my latte

He was driving a massive diesel truck with a 'roll coal' sticker, so I asked him if he'd actually seen the data on how much carbon we're saving in my town since the community solar project went live last year, and he just walked away - has anyone else had success actually changing someone's mind on renewables or do you just save your breath?

I mean I used to be pretty skeptical about solar too, honestly. Thought it was just rich people getting tax breaks or whatever. But then my neighbor put panels on his roof and showed me his electric bill from last summer, and it was like a third of mine. Kinda changed my whole view on it.

Read something the other day actually about how solar panels have gotten way more efficient just in the last few years. Like the ones from ten years ago aren't even in the same league as what they're putting out now. A buddy of mine works for an electric co-op and he was telling me they're seeing more and more regular homeowners making the switch, not just the folks with money to burn. Your neighbor's bill drop is pretty solid proof though, that's the kind of thing that makes you stop and pay attention.
